Components
Essential to all of advising curricula is the concept
of communication, both between students and advisors and the students
themselves. Relationships and hard work forge the confidence and
self-assurance that is so critical to the development of a young
mind, particularly one that is skeptical of the status quo. As such,
all students are expected to actively participate in regular group
meetings and conferences, which represent an important component
of the personal development curriculum and offer students the opportunity
to carefully examine key aspects of relationships and personal commitment.
It should be emphasized that because the school believes
rapport to be the essence of an effective student advisor program,
the school is committed to an atmosphere that is respectful and
devoid of sarcasm and caustic personality. Carlbrook is founded
on the conviction that all students are worthy of respect, must
be treated with dignity, and are deserving of patience and explanation
at all times. The Advisor Program reflects these values.
