Extracurricular activities represent an important segment of student life at Carlbrook, as such offerings speak directly to the quality of the student experience and provide a conduit through which the school can reach students who might be more reluctant to respond to traditional methods. As such, the school encourages and supports a host of activities outside the classroom that support healthy living, positive avocation and effective means of “filling the void” created by the cessation of past negative habits.
The school’s extracurricular offerings encompass a wide range of interests, and include academic clubs, debate teams, journalism, music, drama, and art. Field trips and campus events allow for student exposure to diverse areas of personal interest, with the availability and frequency of such activities generally determined by student interest. The Carlbrook faculty believes that participation in these activities lays the foundation for enhanced self-esteem and allows for the development of positive friendships among the student body.
